How to use the NHS to get back on your feet
The health system is failing people, not helping them, according to a report published today.
In a scathing report, the Government is blaming NHS staff, the public, and politicians for the chronic problems facing people in England.
The report, commissioned by the Government and released in partnership with the London-based charity, called for a major overhaul of the system.
The NHS’s failings in providing care are the biggest single challenge facing people and the economy, the report says.
The Government says that despite this, it will spend more on health in the next Parliament.
But the report shows the NHS is still struggling to meet the needs of people who need help, including those who need to be discharged or treated for severe illnesses such as COPD.
The study found that, across the country, people have been left in limbo by their NHS care, unable to find out whether they can get back to work or whether they are eligible for the social care payments that pay for it.
In England, people on incapacity benefit are currently at the highest risk of being left without any work or support after they leave hospital.
The report says they are being left in this limbo because they can’t find out what work they will be eligible for.
There is no way of knowing what will happen if they are not found to be eligible.
And the report warns that many people who have already been waiting for months, even years, for a new contract to start receiving benefits will end up with nothing.
The government has pledged to spend an extra £20bn on the NHS in the Budget next month, and it has also announced a further £12bn in cuts to public spending in the current Parliament.
The Royal College of Nursing, the UK’s oldest and most respected health care charity, has called for an urgent change in the system, saying that, while there are problems, people who are already in crisis are not being helped.
Its president, Dr Kate McNeil, said: “There is an urgent need for a serious overhaul of how we support people in acute care who need urgent care but cannot afford it.”
She said the NHS needs to be run by nurses and not bureaucrats.
But, in an interview with The Independent, the Royal College’s director of public policy, Dr Peter Rees, said the system is in crisis.
“We need to make sure we are running the health service in a way that is sustainable.””
The report said the Government needs to urgently introduce a “fixed pay-as-you-go” system for nurses, saying this would help people pay for the NHS’s own staff.”

And it recommended that all contracts should be renewed automatically, rather than being automatically renewed for a particular period of time.
It also called for the health sector to make its finances more transparent.
